Massage Therapy and Bodywork Services
Swedish Massage
The best-known type of bodywork performed today that relaxes the entire body through rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. What many don’t know is Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and increasing flexibility while easing tension.
During a Swedish massage, massage oil, cream or lotion is applied to the skin and the therapists performs various massage strokes. These movements warm up the muscle tissue, releasing tension and gradually breaking up muscle adhesions (aka knots or adhered tissues). Pressure during a Swedish may be as light or deep as desired by the client.

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)
NMT is a form of soft tissue manipulation that aims to treat underlying causes of chronic pain involving the muscular and nervous systems (e.g. pinched nerve, over use of shoulder muscles (rotator cuff)). This medically oriented form of massage addresses trigger points (tender muscles points), circulation, nerve compression, postural issues, and biomechanical problems that can be caused by repetitive movement injuries.
During a NMT session, alternating levels of concentrated pressure are applied on the areas of muscle pain/spasm. Pressure is usually applied with the fingers, knuckles, or elbow. Once applied to a muscle pain/spasm, the pressure is held for ten to thirty seconds or until pain has decreased or diminished.

CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that regulates the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. This fluid surrounds the brain and spinal cord, acting as a cushion that protects the brain from both mechanical and microbiological damage. With normalization of the cerebrospinal fluid, both the brain and neck are supported and tension deep in the body is released to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health. In this way, craniosacral therapy provides a safe treatment for people of all ages. CST was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger after years of clinical testing and research at Michigan State University where he served as professor of biomechanics. CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and it’s effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.
During a CranioSacral Therapy session, a soft touch which is generally no greater than 5 grams (about the weight of a nickel) is applied on the soft tissue of the skull, spine on sacrum areas that surround the central nervous system.
